Spain’s Adrian Otaegui roared again from 4 photographs behind to disclaim England’s Matt Wallace victory on the Scottish Championship at Fairmont St Andrews.
World quantity 248 Otaegui, 27, carded a surprising final-round 63 on the resort’s Torrance course to win by 4 stokes.
In a single day chief Wallace was second after a 71, with compatriots Aaron Rai (66), Chris Paisley (68) and Garrick Porteous (71) making up the highest 5.
After three 66s to begin, Wallace had three bogeys on a haphazard closing day.
However Otaegui, who had set the tempo on the primary day with a peerless 62, carded 10 birdies on the outskirts of St Andrews to romp to his third European Tour victory.
Ewen Ferguson was the main house participant, ending in a tie for eleventh after a closing 67.
