Tyneside Cinema chiefs step down amid abuse failure assessment

Two bosses of an impartial cinema are stepping down amid a assessment into the dealing with of abuse allegations.

Nearly 200 previous and current staff of the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle

complained about systemic failure to take care of claims of harassment and sexual abuse.

Chairwoman Lucy Armstrong and chief government Holli Keeble said it was “proper we transfer apart”.

The cinema won’t reopen till the assessment is revealed, stated Ms Armstrong, who will step down as soon as the findings are launched.

Ms Keeble will go away “within the coming days”.

Ms Armstrong stated the pair had been “deeply involved by the distressing reviews of sexual abuse and bullying” shared by staff on social media which prompted the investigation.

She stated a “new staff” would take over.

Ms Keeble stated: “Undoubtedly critical errors have been made and the assessment is taking a look at each side of individuals’s experiences, each previous and current, to study these classes.”
